Zions Bancorp: Loan Write-Off Not Ideal; Maintaining Our Fair Value Estimate of $58 Per Share

Zions unexpectedly announced on Oct. 15 that it had identified apparent misrepresentations and contractual defaults by two of its borrowers. Zions will take a provision of $60 million and a charge-off of $50 million related to this in the third quarter. Shares are down 4% in aftermarket trading.
