Arrowhead Grants Novartis Licensing Rights to Parkinson's Treatment

Arrowhead agreed to grant Novartis the licensing rights to its preclinical treatment against neurodegenerative disorders including Parkinson's Disease.
Arrowhead will receive an upfront payment of $200 million and up to $2 billion in potential milestone payments in addition to sales royalties up to low double digits.
Arrowhead will complete preclinical research activities necessary for a clinical trial application after which Novartis will take control over development and commercialization of the treatment.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of the year.
Arrowhead shares rose 6.7% to $23.50 in premarket trading.
