ABB to Invest $110 Million in U.S. to Meet Data Center, Grid Demand

By Billy Gray

ABB said it plans to invest $110 million across four U.S. manufacturing sites to meet future demand for data centers and the power grid.

The Swiss electric engineering group said Tuesday that the investment would allow it to make its Emax 3 circuit breakers, used to protect critical infrastructure such as data centers, in the U.S.

The company's plans include two $30 million investments--a warehouse expansion in Richmond, Virginia due to open later this year and another expansion in Puerto Rico expected to open in late 2026. Additional investments include $35 million in a Pinetops, North Carolina manufacturing facility to open in 2026 and $15 million in the Emax production line in Sanatobia, Mississippi, also to debut next year.

Together, the investments will create almost 200 jobs, ABB said.
