Chip Stocks Rise on Nvidia Investment in Intel — Update

Shares of some companies in the chip industry rose Thursday after Nvidia said it was investing $5 billion in Intel.
Applied Materials shares rose 6%. Micron Technology gained 5.2%. ON Semiconductor shares increased 4.9%. KLA Corp. shares rose 7.7%. Lam Research gained 4.6%. Cadence Design Systems rose 4.2%. Synopsys surged 10%.
Intel's stock rose 26% after Nvidia said it would take a stake in the troubled chipmaker as part of a collaboration to produce chips for AI and PCs.
Wedbush analysts said in a note Thursday that the Nvidia investment in Intel was a boon for the entire U.S. tech industry, helping transition Intel from "laggard to catalyst" in the development of the AI industry in the U.S.
