Petronas Gas to Streamline Businesses via Internal Reorganization
By Ying Xian Wong
KUALA LUMPUR--Petronas Gas will restructure its operations to focus on its core businesses, and be more flexible in how it manages capital.
The unit of state-owned energy firm Petronas said it will transfer its gas transportation, gas processing and utilities businesses into wholly-owned subsidiaries.
All related entities in the gas company's utilities and energy operations will be housed under a single holding company, Energia.
Petronas Gas said in filing on Wednesday that the move will draw a clear divide between its regulated and non-regulated businesses, improving transparency and allowing flexible capital management.
The Ministry of Finance has granted a tax exemption for the proposed reorganization.
The gas provider aims to complete the reshuffling in the third quarter of 2026, subject to court and shareholder approval. The changes will not have a meaningful impact on earnings, shareholding structure or gearing, it said.
