Esperion Therapeutics Shares Rise After Blocking Generic Version of Cholesterol Drug

By Adriano Marchese

Esperion Therapeutics shares rose after the company won a settlement that will block the marketing of generic versions of its cholesterol drugs.

Shares rose 13% to $3.27.

Esperion settled with India-based pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy Laboratories which was seeking approval to market its own generic versions of its Nexletol and Nexlizet.

Following the settlement, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories has agreed not to market a generic version of either in the U.S. before 2040.
