Teva Pharmaceuticals Requests Removal of Some Patents From FDA Listing After FTC Warning

By Katherine Hamilton

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries requested that the Food and Drug Administration remove more than 200 patent listings from its book of approved products.

The request came after the Federal Trade Commission in May sent a series of warning letters to Teva and other pharmaceutical companies arguing that some of their patents didn't meet criteria for listing with the FDA.

Warning letters were also sent to Novartis, Amphastar Pharmaceuticals, Viatris unit Mylan Specialty and Covis Pharma.

In December 2024, an appeals court upheld a decision ordering Teva to delist several asthma inhaler patents from the FDA's Approved Drug Products with Therapeutic Equivalence Evaluations, known as the Orange Book.
