Emergent BioSolutions Gets $21.5 Million Anthrax Vaccination Order From Pentagon
By Amira McKee
Emergent BioSolutions received a $21.5 million order to supply anthrax vaccinations to the Defense Department.
The medical countermeasures manufacturer said Thursday that the order is under its existing indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contract with the U.S. government.
The order is for BioThrax, Emergent BioSolutions' vaccine designed to immunize individuals at high-risk for exposure to anthrax. When administered in conjunction with recommended antibacterial drugs, the product may also help halt the disease post-exposure.
Deliveries will take place in 2026, the company said. The order includes a one-year base period, with two additional option periods for 2027 and 2028.
