Perpetua Resources' $2.7 Billion EXIM Loan Enters Final Congressional Review Phase

Adriano Marchese

Perpetua Resources said the U.S. Congress is reviewing a proposed $2.7 billion loan for its stibnite gold-antimony project in central Idaho.

The company said Tuesday that the board of the Export-Import Bank of the U.S. has decided to notify Congress of a proposed $2.7 billion senior secured long-term loan.

This decision has triggered a 25-day notice period to Congress and is the last formal step before U.S. EXIM's Board will vote on final approval, which Perpetua said it expects soon after the notice period ends.

In total, the company would receive a loan of $2.2 billion, after excluding capitalized interest and fees.

If approved, the loan plus its $714 million in cash would fully cover the Stibnite project's estimated $2.58 billion construction cost, Perpetua said.
