Two Texas Refineries Report Flaring Incidents Over the Weekend — OPIS
A pair of Texas refineries reported flaring incidents over the weekend.
A power outage Friday evening led to more than 24 hours of flaring at Flint Hills Resources' 365,000 b/d Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery, the company said in an environmental report.
In a report Saturday with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the company said staff had initiated prompt action to minimize emissions and that the event was ongoing at the time the report was submitted.
"The dates/times given in this report are only estimates; the duration of the actual event may vary significantly from this estimate," the company said in the report.
In a separate TCEQ filing, Exxon reported an upset involving the hydrocracker that led to flaring at its 637,400 b/d Beaumont refinery. The incident began late Friday afternoon and lasted a little over five hours, the company said in a Saturday report.
"No offsite impacts were reported. We expect to meet all contractual commitments," the company said in the report.
