Northrop Grumman Gets US Navy Contract for Advanced Hawkeye Aircraft

By Stephen Nakrosis

Northrop Grumman Systems was awarded a contract to produce, deliver and support three Hawkeye aircraft, the Pentagon said.

The contract calls for the company to deliver three E-2D Advanced Hawkeye Block II aircraft for the Navy. The contract is not to exceed $1.19 billion, according to the Pentagon.

The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye Block II Aircraft is a command and control aircraft which tracks threats and coordinated air defense operations. The aircraft's technology enables simultaneous air and surface tracking across all radar modes, Northrop Grumman said. The aircraft can support a number of missions, including integrated air and missile defense, air traffic control, combat search and rescue, and humanitarian relief, the company added.

Work will be performed in Melbourne, Largo and St. Augustine, Fla., as well as in Indianapolis and other locations in the U.S. and overseas.
