McDonald's Second-Quarter Profit Tops Street Views Despite Revenue Miss
By Colin Kellaher
McDonald's posted second-quarter earnings that topped Wall Street's expectations, but revenue fell a bit short of views.
The Chicago fast-food giant on Tuesday reported adjusted earnings of $3.38 a share for the quarter, up from $3.19 a share a year earlier and ahead of the $3.32 that analysts polled by FactSet, on average, were expecting.
Revenue rose 4% to $7.1 billion, shy of the $7.13 billion analysts had penciled in, while worldwide comparable sales rose 1.3%, in line with what Wall Street was looking for.
McDonald's said global systemwide sales rose 5% to $37 billion for the quarter.
