Bumble Posts Lower 2Q Revenue as Paying Users Decline

Bumble reported a double-digit decline in second quarter revenue as its number of paying users declined.

The dating app company reported a loss of $127.9 million, or 84 cents a share, compared with a loss of $367 million, or $2.45 a share, a year earlier.

Bumble recorded a $169.3 million impairment charge in the latest quarter, compared to a $404.9 million impairment charge a year earlier.

Revenue decreased 15% to $210.5 million, matching analyst estimates.

Total paying users decreased over 16% to 3.16 million.

Chief Financial Officer Kevin Cook said the company was investing across product, technology and brand to position Bumble for long-term growth.

The company forecast third quarter revenue between $205 million and $213 million. Analysts polled by FactSet are expecting $214.5 million.

The stock was down 6.6% to $2.84 in after-hours trading. The stock closed at $3.04 on Wednesday.
