Frutas y Hortalizas Expands Blueberry Recall to Include a Mixed Berry Item Sold at Walmart

Chile-based Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. expanded its July recall of frozen blueberries to include one lot of a mixed-berry product sold at some Walmart stores.
The recall, which is related to concerns about E. coli, now includes the 10-ounce Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend with UPC number 7874211226 and lot code 6040 01-6. The product was shipped to Walmart stores in 16 states including Florida, Texas and Illinois.
Frutas y Hortalizas said there are no illnesses associated with this specific product to date, and that the recall expansion is a precautionary measure following traceback information of the previous recall.
In July, the company announced a recall of a frozen GreenWise blueberry item sold at Publix. An expanded recall later in July included mixed berries.
The Food and Drug Administration, in an update about E. Coli cases linked to blueberries, said 17 people infected with the outbreak strain have been reported, including six hospitalizations.
