SK Hynix, Union Agree on Revised Wage Deal

By Kwanwoo Jun

SK Hynix and its union have agreed on a revised wage agreement that increases the cash portion of special bonuses tied to surging profits from the artificial-intelligence boom.

The union at the South Korean memory-chip maker approved the new deal, under which the bonuses will be paid half in cash and half in shares, company officials said on Wednesday. The proposal received support from 57.08% of union members who voted.

The union in August rejected a previous deal that called for 40% of the bonuses to be paid in cash and 60% in shares, some of which were subject to a lockup period.

SK Hynix agreed last year agreed to allocate 10% of its annual operating profit to special bonuses.
