Army Awards Missile Contract to Lockheed Martin Valued at Up to $1.2 Billion

By Katherine Hamilton

Lockheed Martin received a contract valued at up to $1.2 billion from the U.S. Army to produce precision strike missiles.

The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract covers initial procurement and future orders of Increment 2 missiles, as well as follow-up production and continued development, the contractor said.

Work will be performed at Lockheed Martin facilities and across the company's U.S. industrial base.

The company plans to start production of the initial missiles while continuing flight testing and system maturation. Precision strike missile Increment 2 completed its first flight test in March and its second flight test in August.

Lockheed Martin said it is positioned to scale production as the Army moves toward bigger Increment 2 procurements.
