Turkish Airlines Inks Deal to Buy Up to 150 Boeing Aircraft

By Connor Hart

Boeing and Turkish Airlines finalized an order for up to 150 aircraft, strengthening the carrier's network to help meet growing demand.

The companies said Wednesday that Turkish Airlines purchased 100 737-8 aircraft, as well as secured options for 50 more 737 MAX jets. Financial terms of the agreement weren't disclosed.

The deal includes substitution rights for the larger 737-10 model, which the companies said will allow Turkish Airlines to serve more passengers and help meet increasing demand.

"This agreement marks another significant step in the continued expansion of our fleet," said Murat Şeker, chairman of the board and executive committee of Turkish Airlines.

The additional aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to the airline's operations, supporting its network and building upon its longstanding coordination with Boeing, he added.

Turkish Airlines operates a fleet of more than 200 Boeing aircraft, it said.
