Microsoft Introduces Revamped Copilot Targeting Corporate Customers
By Kelly Cloonan
Microsoft is rolling out a reworked version of its personal artificial-intelligence assistant aimed at corporate customers.
The new Copilot comes with a suite of new capabilities to help workplace users build, customize and scale AI, the technology company said Friday in a blog post.
Users will be able to edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents within a Copilot app, and use a coding assistant to build apps, trackers and dashboards or automate tasks, Microsoft said.
The new Copilot also embeds Autopilot, a personal agent previously called Scout, that can continue working on behalf of users--handling schedules and followups, among other tasks--without a prompt, the company said.
The revamped product comes as Microsoft moves away from having distinct commercial and consumer Copilot products toward a unified experience across its business and consumer applications.
Earlier this year, the company unified the teams that work on the different versions of Copilot, switching up a strategy that some employees said created a disjointed user experience and consumer confusion, The Wall Street Journal reported.
