ICE Canola Commentary: ICE Canola Strengthens Ahead of Weekend
WINNIPEG, Manitoba--Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange showed positive momentum heading into the weekend.
Crude oil prices fell Friday morning after the European Union discussed a proposal to release 50 million barrels of diesel and crude oil each from its reserves. Chicago soyoil and European rapeseed were higher, while Malaysian palm oil was lower.
The Canadian Grain Commission reported 130,700 tonnes of canola were exported during the week ended Sept. 27, well above the 43,300 tonnes reported the week before. So far this marketing year, 921,700 tonnes of canola were exported, compared with 715,600 tonnes a year ago.
The canola harvest in Saskatchewan advanced by 19 points during the week ended Sept. 28 at 45%.
The southern half of Alberta will see rain Friday, but weekend conditions throughout the entire Prairies will be sunny in the high teens to low-20 degrees Celsius.
The Canadian dollar was up less than one-tenth of a U.S. cent compared with Thursday's close.
