U.S. Factory Orders Ticked Up in August

U.S. factory orders rose slightly in August, though not as much as expected, the Census Bureau said Friday.
Orders from U.S. factories jumped 0.1% in August to $663.5 billion from a revised $662.8 billion in July. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal were expecting a 0.2% increase.
The report showed that shipments from factories were down slightly in August after rising for the past eight months, including a 0.8% gain in July. Unfilled orders rose 0.6% and have now risen 25 of the past 26 months, the report said.
