Technology Shares Rise as Wall Street Embraces Risk — Technology Roundup

Shares in the technology sector rose on a risk-on session, as the AI buildup marches on.

Applied Digital said it has brought an additional 75 megawatts of computing power online at its data center campus in North Dakota. The data center company said it has achieved Ready for Service status for the second phase of Building 2 at its Polaris Forge 1 campus, bringing total operational critical IT load at the campus to 250 megawatts.

ON Semiconductor will acquire Synaptics for cash rather than stock in a downsized deal, according to an amended agreement between the two companies. ON said Thursday that it will pay $123 a share for Synaptics, giving the deal a value of around $5.7 billion, according to the company.

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won plans to sell part of his stake in the conglomerate's holding company to fund his divorce settlement with his ex-wife, Roh Soh-yeong. SK Inc. said in a regulatory filing that Chey, its largest shareholder, plans to sell 1,653,924 shares, or a 2.26% stake in the company. The transaction would reduce his personal stake to 15.49%.

Amazon.com is touting its good-neighbor bona fides in an attempt to shore up support for artificial-intelligence data centers. The cloud-computing giant published a memorandum calling the fight for AI dominance "the race our nation can't afford to lose" and laying out initiatives to support the communities where it is building data centers.

A California state court denied AppLovin's request for a temporary restraining order that would block Unity Technologies from protecting, using or disclosing its data. AppLovin had argued that Unity violated an agreement between the two companies, as well as a California trade-secrets law, by simultaneously bidding in AppLovin's advertising auctions and running its own performance-advertising business.
