Warrants that Skydance shareholders received to offset dilution associated with the firm's acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery began trading independently on Oct. 14, 2026. Shareholders of the Class B float as of Oct. 13 received one stock warrant for each full share of stock they held.
Ownership of HBO Max and Paramount+ will give the firm a streaming presence in most households and help streaming offset ongoing declines in linear television.
Bears
More than half of Skydance’s profits come from a legacy television business that will continue declining rapidly.
Skydance operates in three global business segments: TV media, studios, and direct to consumer. The TV media business includes television production studios and various broadcast and cable networks, including CBS, 15 owned CBS affiliates, CNN, TBS, TNT, Nickelodeon, MTV, BET, and VH1. Filmed entertainment consists of multiple film studios, most importantly Warner Bros., HBO, and Paramount Pictures. The film studios produce and distribute movies that they license to movie theaters and other media outlets. Direct to consumer includes the HBO Max, Paramount+, Pluto TV, and BET+ streaming services. Much of the content on Paramount’s streaming platforms is created by the production studios housed within the firm’s other two business segments.
