Turn Investing Ideas into Watchlists Faster
Investment ideas are easy to collect. Organizing and evaluating them is often the harder part.
Maybe you've been maintaining a spreadsheet of stocks to research, bookmarked several of Christine Benz's bucket portfolios, or kept a running list of ticker symbols from articles, podcasts, or personal notes. Until now, bringing those ideas into Morningstar Investor meant adding each security one at a time.
With the new Watchlist import feature, you can bring those ideas into Morningstar Investor in just a few clicks—so you can spend less time building your watchlists and more time researching the investments that interest you.
From inspiration to research in minutes
Watchlist import makes it easy to turn a list of investment ideas into a new or existing watchlist, no matter where those ideas originated.
You can import securities from a variety of common file types, including PNG, JPG, JPEG, PDF, XLSX, CSV, and TXT, making it easy to work with spreadsheets, screenshots, saved documents, or text files you've already created.
Whether you're tracking recommendations from Morningstar analysts, organizing stocks and funds you've discovered elsewhere, or creating a shortlist for future research, Watchlist import helps you get started faster.
How it works
First, make sure you're in the Watchlist tool.
- Creating a new watchlist? Select Import Securities from the empty-state page and upload your file.
- Already have a watchlist? Open it and select Import next to the Download button.
Morningstar Investor scans your file, identifies the securities it recognizes, and lets you review the results before adding them to your watchlist. That means you stay in control while avoiding the tedious work of entering every ticker individually.
Spend less time organizing and more time evaluating and investing
Great investment ideas rarely arrive one ticker at a time. They come from articles, spreadsheets, conversations, newsletters, and years of personal research.
Watchlist import makes it easy to bring those ideas together in one place, so they're ready for everything that comes next. Once they're in a watchlist, you can compare investments side by side, access Morningstar research, and decide which opportunities deserve a closer look.
