Intuitive Surgical 3Q Profit, Sales Jump, Sees Higher da Vinci Procedure Growth

Intuitive Surgical posted higher sales and profit for the third quarter and expects higher growth for its da Vinci surgery system this year.
The maker of a robotic surgery systems on Tuesday reported a profit of $704.4 million, or $1.95 a share, compared with $565.1 million, or $1.56 a share, a year earlier.
Adjusted earnings were $2.40 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected $1.99 share.
Revenue rose nearly 23% to $2.51 billion, ahead of the $2.41 billion analysts expected.
The revenue growth came from growth in procedure volume, higher da Vinci system placements and an increase in the installed base of systems.
The company placed 427 da Vinci surgical systems, compared with 379 a year ago, and its installed base increased 13% to 10,763 at the end of the quarter.
The company now expects woldwide da Vinci procedure growth of 17% to 17.5% this year, versus its prior forecast for growth of 15.5% to 17%.
It also forecast gross profit margin between 67% and 67.5% this year, up slightly from its prior view for 66% to 67%, in part due to a lowert-than-expected impact from tariffs.
