Atco Lands $130 Million Worker-Housing Contract for Perpetua Resources Project

By Robb M. Stewart

Canadian engineering, logistics and energy company Atco secured a $130 million contract for a worker-housing facility at Perpetua Resources' gold project in Idaho.

The contract includes plans for a 1,052-person dormitory lodge and office facilities that will be operational in the first quarter of 2027 and enable gold-, silver- and antimony-mining operations at Perpetua's Stibnite project, Atco said Monday. Initial work in 2025 will be focused on site preparation for construction of the facility, which will begin in 2026, Atco said.

The deal comes as Atco seeks to grow its Atco Structures & Logistics division in the U.S.

Atco said the 363 modular units will be prefabricated in climate-controlled production facilities and then transported to the project site, where the modules will be assembled and configured into housing wings, plus central facilities that will including kitchen and dining facilities and recreation amenities.

Earlier Monday, Perpetua Resources moved to secure a $225 million investment from JPMorgan Chase and Canadian gold producer Agnico Eagle Mines to help fund development of the Stibnite project. Perpetua broke ground on the project last week, it said.

Perpetua said Stibnite is projected to produce about 450,000 troy ounces of gold annually over the first four years of output, as well as antimony, an element with a silvery appearance that is used in alloys.
