Saint-Gobain's Like-for-Like Sales Fall on North America Weakness
By Cristina Gallardo
Compagnie de Saint-Gobain said third-quarter sales fell on a like-for-like basis due to a contraction in its North America business.
The French building-materials company said Thursday that sales for the third quarter amounted to 11.42 billion euros ($13.25 billion), down 0.2% on a like-for-like basis compared with the year prior.
North America's like-for-like sales fell 6.5% in the third quarter, due to softness in new construction amid still-high interest rates, and the lack of major weather events, which in previous years had boosted sales of roofing products, Saint-Gobain said.
Volumes were down 0.9% in the quarter, it added.
Saint-Gobain confirmed its 2025 outlook and said it expects its operating margin for the year to surpass 11%.
