Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico expects commercial flights out of Montego Bay International Airport to resume Saturday after Hurricane Melissa passed through Jamaica.

The company said Friday the airport resumed operations on Thursday for evacuation flights and humanitarian aid. It is currently working to restore airport infrastructure and services and assess damage to the airport's facilities and equipment.

The airport operator aims to ensure that all airport systems and procedures are fully operational and meet safety standards before fully restoring commercial operations, it said.

The company acquired Desarrollo de Concessioner Aeroportuarias in 2015, which owns a majority stake in MBJ Airports Limited. MBJ operates Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
