Siemens Healthineers Reports Fall in Profits, Citing Tariffs

By Aimee Look

Siemens Healthineers reported a fall in fourth-quarter profit after higher comparable revenue stemming from the transformation program of its diagnostics business was offset by a hit from U.S. tariffs.

The German healthcare company on Wednesday posted a net profit of 597 million euros ($685.5 million) for the three months through Sept. 30, down from 624 million euros in the same period last year.

It reported revenue of 6.32 billion euros for the quarter, down from 6.33 billion euros, but up 3.7% on a comparable basis.

Analysts had expected a net profit of 659 million euros and revenue of 6.45 billion euros, according to estimates compiled by Vara Research.

Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes fell 2% to 1.09 billion euros. The metric's margin declined to 17.4% from 17.7%.

"Higher tariffs had a negative effect in all segments," but revenue development and cost reductions from the company's diagnostics business plan were a buffer for the losses, it said.
