By Nina Kienle

Daimler Truck reported a decline in adjusted earnings and revenue for the third quarter, citing challenging market conditions in North America.

The German truck and bus maker said Friday that third-quarter adjusted earnings before interest and taxes were 716 million euros ($826.8 million) compared with 1.19 billion euros for the same period last year.

Revenue for its industrial business segment fell to 10.59 billion euros from 12.31 billion euros as sales units dropped 15% to 98,009.

Analysts had forecast an adjusted EBIT of 729.2 million euros on revenue for industrial business of 10.59 billion euros, according to consensus estimates provided by Visible Alpha.

"In today's uncertain global environment, we continue to focus on what we can control: improving operational and organizational efficiency, strict cost management, and fully committing to deliver strong value to our customers," Chief Financial Officer Eva Scherer said.

The company backed its outlook for the year, continuing to expect sales of 410,000 to 440,000 units, as well as revenue in the Industrial Business of between 44 billion and 47 billion euros.

The outlook remains subject to geopolitical developments, specifically the U.S. trade policy and supply chain challenges, it added.
