Temu Owner Posts Slow Revenue Growth
By Tracy Qu
The Chinese owner of bargain-shopping app Temu continued to post slow revenue growth as the company navigates a challenging U.S.-China trade environment.
Revenue rose 9.0% from a year earlier to 108.28 billion yuan, equivalent to $15.23 billion, with net profit rising 17% to 29.33 billion yuan, PDD Holdings said Tuesday.
Analysts had expected net profit of 22.46 billion yuan on revenue of 108.705 billion yuan, according to a FactSet consensus.
"In the third quarter, revenues growth continued to moderate, reflecting the ongoing evolution of the competitive landscape and external uncertainties," said Jun Liu, vice president of finance.
PDD has been facing some challenges after years of breakneck growth, including a sharp deceleration in revenue growth as it increased investment for merchant support.
The discount retailer on Tuesday warned of further volatility, saying that its financial results may continue to fluctuate as it rolls out more initiatives to support merchants and invests in its e-commerce ecosystem.
