Assicurazioni Generali, BPCE Terminate Plan for Asset Management Joint Venture
By Billy Gray
Assicurazioni Generali said it and BPCE agreed to end negotiations on the establishment of a joint venture in asset management.
The Italian insurance company and BPCE, a French banking group, conducted extensive discussions as well as a consultation process with relevant stakeholders, Generali said. But while that process, carried out over recent months, confirmed the merits of a partnership, conditions of a final agreement haven't been reached, it added.
Generali said the decision to terminate negotiations was reached jointly.
The two companies in January said they had signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to create a joint venture between Generali Investments Holding and Natixis Investment Managers, their respective asset management operations, that would have had 1.9 trillion euros ($2.222 trillion) in assets under management.
