Coty Sells Remaining Stake in Wella to KKR for $750 Million in Cash
By Kelly Cloonan
Coty sold its remaining 26% stake in hair and nail care company Wella to KKR.
Under the terms of the deal, Coty will receive an upfront consideration of $750 million in cash, the beauty company said Friday.
It will also receive 45% of any proceeds from a further sale or an initial public offering of the business, after KKR's preferred return has been met.
Coty said it expects to receive additional cash proceeds due to Wella's strong recent and expected performance, which could bring the total gross proceeds closer to the carrying value of its investment.
Coty expects to use the majority of the upfront cash proceeds, net of tax, to pay down debt.
