Kuaishou Shares Fall After Cyberattack

By Sherry Qin

Kuaishou Technology's shares fell sharply, after its short-video platform was hit by a cyberattack.

Shares of the Beijing-based company fell as much as 6.0% earlier Tuesday, before paring losses to trade 3.45% lower at 64.40 Hong Kong dollars, equivalent to $8.28, in the afternoon session.

Kuaishou, China's second-largest short-video platform after TikTok's sister app Douyin, suffered a cyberattack late Monday, the company said in a filing to the stock exchange on Tuesday.

Users were exposed to a flood of vulgar and explicit content in livestreaming rooms late Monday, according to local media reports.

The livestreaming function of the app has gradually resumed normal service, it said.

Kuaishou has reported the incident to the police and "strongly condemns the illegal and criminal activities of the underground and gray industries," it said.
