AbbVie, Revolution Medicines Stocks Gain on Report of Possible Acquisition

Shares of AbbVie and Revolution Medicines rose following a report in The Wall Street Journal that AbbVie is in advanced talks to acquire the cancer-drug biotechnology company.

Revolution shares jumped 10% to $87.81 in Wednesday afternoon trading. AbbVie shares rose 3.2% to $231.28.

Revolution, with a market value of roughly $16 billion, could be valued by AbbVie at $20 billion or more based on typical deal premiums, according to the Journal, which said the exact size of AbbVie's offer couldn't be determined.

A deal could be finalized shortly barring any last-minute issues, according to the Journal.
