Heathrow Airport's Busiest December Leads to Record Passenger Numbers for the Year
By Anthony O. Goriainoff
London's Heathrow Airport said on-year passenger numbers rose in December and that it closed the year with record figures.
The airport--jointly owned by Spain's Ferrovial, the Qatar Investment Authority, China Investment Corp., and others--on Monday said passengers rose 1.6% to 7.2 million last month, making this its busiest December on record.
For the year the airport saw passenger numbers reach 84.5 million, with Aug. 1 being its busiest day ever with passengers reaching 270,000.
Heathrow said it was preparing for another record-breaking year in 2026.
"We plan to invest over 1.3 billion pounds ($1.74 billion) during the year in a further boost to customers and service," it said.
