Revolution Medicines Shares Slide Premarket After Merck Talks Cool
By Colin Kellaher
Revolution Medicines shares tumbled in premarket trading Monday after The Wall Street Journal reported that drugmaker Merck is no longer in talks to buy the cancer-drug biotech.
Shares of Revolution, which closed Friday at $117.63, were recently down 23% to $90.88 in premarket trading.
Talks between Merck and Revolution on a deal that could have valued Revolution at around $30 billion cooled after the companies couldn't reach an agreement on price, The Journal reports, citing people familiar with the matter.
Revolution shares had risen nearly 50% since closing at $79.85 on Jan. 6 after reports emerged that the Redwood City, Calif., company was a takeover target.
