Ferrovial Receives $700 Million Contract to Build Railway Tunnel in Poland
By Nina Kienle
Ferrovial said it received a contract valued at around 2.58 billion zlotys ($700.5 million) from Poland to build two sections of the new Malopolskie region rail line.
The infrastructure group on Friday said that this would be the first joint tunneling project between its construction division and polish subsidiary Budimex.
The consortium will develop 17.5 kilometers of electrified double-track railway, as well as 1.9 kilometers of single-track railway and two parallel tunnels, it said.
The new line will improve regional mobility and strengthen connections from Krakow to the south of the country, Ferrovial said.
The project is expected to last 46 months, it added.
