Wheaton Precious Metals Logs Higher 4Q Net Income, Boosts Dividend 18%

By Amira McKee

Wheaton Precious Metals logged higher net income as gold prices boosted revenue, and raised its quarterly dividend.

The precious metals streaming company on Thursday said it recorded fourth-quarter net income of $558.3 million, or $1.23 a share, compared with $88.1 million, or 19.4 cents a share, a year earlier.

Adjusted earnings came in at $1.22 a share, beating the $1.10 analysts polled by FactSet expected.

Revenue more than doubled to $864.7 million, ahead of Wall Street's forecast for $778.9 million, according to FactSet.

The top-line gains were primarily driven by a 69% increase in the average realized gold equivalent price.

Wheaton also said its board raised its dividend 18% to 19.5 cents a share from 16.5 cents.

The new payout, equal to 78 cents a year, represents an annual yield of 0.5% based on the stock's latest closing price of $145.73.

The dividend will be distributed on or about April 10, to shareholders of record as of the close of business on March 31.
