Alimentation Couche-Tard Records Higher Profit, Revenue in 3Q

Alimentation Couche-Tard posted a higher profit as both merchandise and fuel revenue rose in the fiscal third quarter.

The Canadian convenience-store operator on Tuesday logged a profit of $757.2 million, or 82 cents a share, compared with a profit of $641.4 million, or 68 cents a share, a year earlier.

On an adjusted basis, the company reported earnings of 81 cents a share, short of the 83 cents a share expected by analysts surveyed by FactSet.

Revenue rose to $21.81 billion, up from $20.90 billion a year prior, but missed analysts' expectations of $22.13 billion, according to FactSet.

Service and merchandise revenue rose to $5.75 billion from $5.29 billion. Total road transportation fuel revenue rose to $15.86 billion from $15.42 billion.

Consolidated same-store merchandise revenue was up 2% in total, including a 2.8% increase in the U.S. Same-store merchandise revenue rose 0.3% in Canada and 0.4% in Europe and other regions.

Same-store fuel volumes fell 0.4% in the U.S. and 1.6% in Europe and other regions. Same-store fuel volumes rose 4.2% in Canada.
