AB InBev's Board Chairman Martin Barrington to Retire
By Aimee Look
Anheuser-Busch InBev said its chairman of the board, Martin Barrington, would retire from his position, after serving in the role for seven years.
The Belgian group, which houses Michelob, Corona and Stella Artois, said Barrington will retire from his role on the board after the Annual Shareholders' Meeting on April 29.
Barrington has been on the board for more than nine years, and his retirement follows the company's Corporate Governance Charter provision respecting retirement at age 70, it said.
For the restricted share director seat vacated by Barrington's retirement, restricted shareholders proposed William Gifford, Jr for the position. Gifford previously was an AB InBev director and is the retiring CEO of Altria Group, the company said. His appointment is subject to shareholder approval at the Annual Shareholders' Meeting.
The directors will give input for a new chairman, who will be appointed after the meeting.
