British American Tobacco Names Asahi's Constantinescu as Finance Chief
By Adria Calatayud
British American Tobacco said it is bringing back Dragos Constantinescu, who currently serves as head of Asahi's Europe and international operations, to be its new chief financial officer.
The company behind Lucky Strike cigarettes and Vuse e-cigarettes said Thursday that Constantinescu would join BAT at the beginning of September, having been with Asahi Breweries since 2019. Prior to this, the executive worked for 16 years at BAT and held senior finance and general management roles.
Javed Iqbal, who has been interim CFO since Soraya Benchikh stepped down in August last year, will return to his role as digital and information director after Constantinescu's appointment.
The company said Constantinescu's international experience of both the tobacco industry and the wider consumer-goods sector and his understanding of BAT would help it pursue its midterm targets after it faced regulatory headwinds last year.
