RELX Expects Year of Strong Revenue, Profit Growth

By Anthony O. Goriainoff

RELX said the year started well across its business areas as it continued to deliver strong underlying revenue and profit growth.

The information-and-analytics group on Thursday said its long-term growth continues to be driven by the ongoing shift toward higher-growth analytics and decision tools.

Growth at its risk division was driven by its artificial-intelligence enabled analytics and decision tools, with its insurance business boosted by strong new sales, further innovation and the adoption of contributory databases and market-specific solutions.

The FTSE 100-listed company said business-services growth was driven by financial crime compliance, digital fraud and identity solutions as well as strong new sales.

Revenue growth at its scientific, technical and medical segment improved. This was driven by the shift toward higher-value analytics and tools as well as new product launches and strong new sales, it said.

The board confirmed its guidance for the year.

"We continue to see positive momentum across the group, and we expect another year of strong underlying growth in revenue and adjusted operating profit, as well as strong growth in adjusted earnings per share on a constant currency basis," the company said.
