Kering Names New CEO of Alexander McQueen as Revamp Continues
By Andrea Figueras
Kering named luxury veteran Gianfranco D'Attis as chief executive of its fashion house Alexander McQueen as the French group continues its turnaround plan.
The company said on Monday that the appointment is effective June 3. D'Attis will report to Kering CEO Luca de Meo and succeeds Gianfilippo Testa, who decided to leave the group later this year.
"Gianfranco D'Attis brings more than 25 years of international experience in the luxury industry," the group said. Most recently, he was CEO of Italian high-end fashion company Prada's namesake brand. Prior to that, he worked at sector bellwether LVMH and at Switzerland's Richemont.
Kering is trying to get its brands back on track after a lengthy period of subdued demand.
"Alexander McQueen is entering a new phase focused on strengthening its distinctive positioning, supported by a leaner and more disciplined model built around focused collections, a rightsized retail network and a streamlined organization," Kering said. D'Attis will lead the house's next phase of development, focusing on strengthening the brand and improving financial performance.
