Prosus Investment Values Health Insurer Alan at $6.3 Billion
By Adria Calatayud
Tech investor Prosus said it is investing in France's Alan, a company that built a healthcare platform powered by artificial intelligence, in a deal that values the health insurer at 5.5 billion euros ($6.25 billion).
Prosus--the largest shareholder in China's Tencent Holdings and owner of food-delivery company Just Eat Takeaway--said it is investing 400 million euros in Alan through both newly issued and existing shares.
New investor Dara Holdings and existing shareholders Teachers' Venture Growth and Index Ventures also participated in the funding round, Prosus said.
The new funds will help Alan expand in large markets, Prosus said. The company currently operates in France, Spain, Belgium and Canada and exceeded 800 million euros in annual recurring revenue as of the first quarter, up 53% on year.
