Tata Consultancy Services Reports Higher Quarterly Net Profit

Tata Consultancy Services reported a rise in first-quarter net profit on higher revenue.
The Indian information technology services provider said Thursday that net profit rose 4.6% from a year earlier to 133.49 billion rupees, equivalent to $1.39 billion, for the three months ended June. That narrowly missed the estimate of 135.02 billion rupees in a poll of analysts by data provider LSEG.
First-quarter revenue increased 14% from a year earlier to 722.75 billion rupees.
Profit from its banking, financial services and insurance segment rose to 71.77 billion rupees from 62.16 billion rupees in the year-earlier period.
