GE Aerospace Raises Fiscal Year Outlook on Higher 2Q Sales, Profit

GE Aerospace raised its full-year outlook after profit and revenue increased in the second quarter.

The maker of jet engines on Thursday posted a profit from continuing operations of $2.41 billion, or $2.30 a share, in the quarter ended June 30, compared with a profit of $2.01 billion, or $1.87 a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out certain one-time items, adjusted per-share earnings were $2.02, ahead of the $1.86 anticipated by analysts, according to FactSet.

Revenue rose 21% to $13.35 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast revenue of $11.87 billion.

Revenue from GE's commercial engines and services segment jumped 27%, while the defense and propulsion technologies business had a 16% increase in sales. Total orders increased 17%.

For the full year, GE Aerospace now expects adjusted earnings per share to be $7.65 to $7.85, up from a previous range of $7.10 to $7.40. Analysts are guiding for $7.56, according to FactSet.

The company also now anticipates adjusted revenue will increase by a percentage in the high teens, up from the low-double-digit percentage growth it was previously projecting.
