Assa Abloy's Profit Rises, Supported by Acquisitions

Assa Abloy posted higher second-quarter profit, benefiting from growth through acquisitions despite geopolitical uncertainty.
The Swedish lock maker on Friday reported 4.42 billion Swedish kronor ($458.4 million) in net profit for the second quarter, compared with 3.96 billion kronor a year earlier and beating estimates of 4.21 billion kronor in a Visible Alpha poll.
Net sales came in at 39.26 billion kronor, with organic growth at 4% and acquired net growth at 2%. Consensus had penciled in 39.09 billion kronor.
Assa Abloy completed acquisitions with combined annual sales of 2 billion kronor in the quarter, it said.
The group posted organic sales growth in the Europe, Middle East, India and Africa region, supported by strong growth in both Central Europe and the Nordic countries.
The Americas division grew 4%, Assa Abloy said.
Earnings before interest and taxes edged up to 6.68 billion kronor from 6.155 billion kronor. The adjusted operating margin reached a record high, improving by 0.3 percentage points on year to 16.5%, the group said.
