Daimler Truck Lifts Guidance Due to North America Tariff Update
By Andrea Figueras
Daimler Truck raised its outlook for this year due to new tariff developments in North America and higher expected unit sales of trucks in the region.
The German truck maker said Wednesday that it now expects adjusted earnings before interest and taxes of between 3.6 billion and 4.1 billion euros ($4.10 billion-$4.67 billion) for the year as a whole. This compares with a prior forecast in a range of 3.2 billion to 3.7 billion euros.
The company also targets unit sales of 340,000 to 370,000, up from a previous estimate of between 330,000 and 360,000.
The new guidance assumes that the current trade framework between the U.S., Mexico and Canada remains in place and doesn't reflect any potential changes in tariff policy, economic conditions, or geopolitical developments, it said.
The company said that its Daimler Buses business now sees unit sales between 20,000 and 25,000 due to the weak market situation in Latin America and Mexico. It previously expected unit sales from 25,000 to 30,000.
Meanwhile, Daimler Truck released preliminary results for the second quarter, with adjusted EBIT of 838 million euros, lower than consensus estimates of 878 million euros provided by the company.
The company will publish full results on Aug. 7.
