Daimler Truck Plans September Launch of Second $1.27 Billion Share Buyback Tranche
By Dominic Chopping
Daimler Truck said it plans to launch the second tranche of its share buyback program, amounting to up to 1.1 billion euros ($1.27 billion), next month.
The buyback will be launched immediately following completion of the first tranche, which is expected by mid-September at the latest, and will run through June.
The German truck and bus maker outlined the plans Friday alongside its confirmation of the preliminary second-quarter results and guidance raise announced last month.
The company in July lifted its adjusted earnings before interest and taxes target to between 3.6 billion and 4.1 billion euros for the year, with unit sales of 340,000 to 370,000 and adjusted return on sales of its industrial business of between 7% and 9%.
"Strong results at Trucks North America and an improved outlook for the region, driven by higher unit sales and a lower tariff impact for the remainder of the year, give us the confidence to raise our full-year guidance," Chief Executive Officer Karin Radstrom said Friday.
Group incoming orders in the second quarter rose 27% to 74,448 units, while unit sales increased to 86,707 from 80,607.
