Altria and Philip Morris USA Sign Manufacturing Deal
By Katherine Hamilton
Altria's tobacco subsidiary Philip Morris USA has signed a contract manufacturing agreement with the non-U.S. affiliates of Philip Morris International to improve efficiency.
The agreement is designed to enhance operational capabilities and generate an economic benefit for both companies.
The first shipments as part of the arrangement are expected to begin early in 2027, Philip Morris International said Monday.
Neither company expects the deal to have a material impact on 2026 financial results, they said.
Altria said it is continuing to operate independently of Philip Morris International, which spun off from Altria in 2008. Philip Morris International said it still has no plans to start commercializing combustible cigarettes in the U.S.
Philip Morris USA is Altria's tobacco unit, which makes combustible products, including Marlboro and Virginia Slims cigarettes.
